The National Discharge Elimination System has just been renewed for the city of Marseilles.
It was approved at last week’s city council meeting.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent Jason Rix says this isn’t the first time for the renewal.
It was renewed back in May of last year.
The plan is to use the system to help eliminate phosphorus that could be in the sewer water.
After a survey the plant would have to decide if it would involve a change in chemicals or plant operations to get rid of the element.
