In High School baseball

Ottawa dominated Rochelle 20-5 in four innings.

The Pirates Luke Cushing finished with a  single, double, triple and drove in six runs. 

 

Serena defeated Hiawatha 9-4

The Huskers  Conner Holdiman pitched five and a third innings with eleven strikeouts.

 

Streator held on to beat Reed-Custer 9-8

Mason Telford had a three-run homer for the Bulldogs.

 

The LP Cavaliers lost to Kaneland 3-2 

 

Seneca outscored St Bede 7-6

Girls Softball

Ottawa defeated Plano 8-3 at King Field,

The Lady Pirates Emma Haage finished with two doubles, a single and three RBIs 

 

Seneca shutout St. Bede 3-0

The Lady Irish Maggie Carpenter had seven innings pitched with 17 strikeouts. 

 

The Streator Lady Bulldogs held on to beat Reed-Custer 6-4 

 

Girls Soccer

The Lady Pirates lost at home to LP 6-3.  The win for the Lady Cavaliers was the first Interstate Eight Conference victory in the program’s  history.

 

Streator won at home against Wilmington 5-0

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Bridget McGurk and Lydia Huey with two goals each.

 

Elsewhere in Sports

Tune in tonight for White Sox baseball when the south-siders start a three game series on the road in Detroit to face the Tigers. Catch the pre-game at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:10pm. Don’t miss any of the action right here on 1430AM WCMY.

 

The Cubs dropped their third straight game with an 8-7 loss to the Braves in Atlanta. Kris Bryant hit a grand slam home run for the North-Siders, who also got a two-run shot from Willson Contreras.  The teams will face off again tonight in Atlanta.

 

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 2-1 to the Phillies at Busch Stadium.  Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright went nine-innings, giving up two solo home runs. The Cards and Philly will meet up again tonight.  

 

The Chicago Bulls used a big fourth quarter to storm past the Heat 110-102 in Miami.  The Bulls offense was paced by Nikola Vucevic  who had a double-double with a team-high 24-points and 11 rebounds. The Bulls head New York to face the Knicks tomorrow. 

 

The Chicago Blackhawks will continue their fight for a playoff spot tonight when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at the United Center.  The Blackhawks fell to Nashville last Friday and are now seven-points behind the Predators for the last spot in the Central.
