The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited the Laboratory at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers after a recent on-site inspection. CAP laboratory accreditation ensures a high standard of care for laboratory patients by advancing the quality of pathology and laboratory services so laboratories meet or exceed regulatory requirements. The Morris Hospital has been accredited by CAP since 1992 and is inspected every two years to maintain accreditation. This involves assessing over 2,400 standards, including the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures, laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities safety program, and overall management of each laboratory section. According to Laboratory Director Kimberly Wolfer, this year the hospital received a “perfect survey with zero deficiencies.”
