Peru Police arrested 29-year-old Kelsey L. Ott of Spring Valley for driving under the influence of alcohol on Sunday at around 2 a.m. Ott was later released with a mandatory court date and additional citations for improper lane usage and speeding.

Peru Police arrested a man in the 1000 block of Monks Ave. Saturday evening on a domestic battery charge. 49-year-old Eric C. Hoscheid was charged with a non-traffic citation and domestic battery. He was taken to the LaSalle County Jail.

Governor Pritzker is reacting to former President Trump’s partial victory in the Supreme Court. The Justices ruled 6-3 that Trump has limited immunity in the federal election interference case for acts he took while in office. Pritzker released a statement saying no one, even a president, ought to be above the law, but the Supreme Court left open that possibility. The governor said when Trump tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election, it wasn’t the official act of a president, but rather the act of a narcissist attempting to overthrow our democracy to cling to power.

Democrats and Republicans are trying to remove third-party and independent presidential candidates from Illinois’ November ballot. Democrats are challenging petitions filed by the presidential campaigns of Robert F. Kennedy Junior and Green Party candidate Jill Stein. The GOP has filed challenges against the Constitution Party candidate Randall Terry and a placeholder for the Libertarian Party. If the challenges are successful, President Biden and former President Donald Trump would be the only names on Illinois’ general election presidential ballot.

The agreement allows for the construction of the more than one-billion-dollar Brandon Road Interbasin Project on the Illinois River near Joliet. Former Blackhawks Staff Get Reinstated By NHL (Undated) — A trio of former Chicago Blackhawks personnel are able to return to the NHL. The league reinstated Stan Bowman, Al MacIsaac, and Joel Quenneville yesterday. The three were banned from the league in October of 2021 after the NHL concluded that the Blackhawks mishandled sexual assault reports under their leadership in 2010 Team officials didn’t want to punish former video coach Brad Aldrich after he allegedly assaulted player Kyle Beach, reasoning that a disruption could compromise the team’s chance at the Stanley Cup. Bowman, MacIsaac, and Quenneville can begin looking for employment in the league immediately.
