Petre of Marseilles into custody on the suspicion of first-degree murder after an incident Saturday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Opal St. in Marseilles. LaSalle County State’s Attorney Joe Navarro confirms Petre was taken into custody Saturday after the Marseilles Police investigation of a reported homicide. Petre will most likely appear in LaSalle County Court on Monday for a detention hearing that could result in pre-trial release per the change in Illinois law that abolished cash bail. Expected to be presented during the court hearing is disclosure of court records showing Petre is currently facing other charges, and a trial, on a home invasion in June 2023. In July 2023, Petre, who was on pre-trial release, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer.
