Last night the Sox survived a ninth-inning rally to hold on for an 8-5 win over Cleveland. The Indians got two runs in the ninth inning before Sox reliever Liam Hendriks put out the fire to earn his third save. Sox starter Carlos Rodon, who no-hit the Indians last week, struck out eight over five innings to get the win.
The Chicago Cubs got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory over the New York Mets at Wrigley Field. Cubs starter Jake Arrieta pitched five strong innings before giving way to four relievers who held the Mets at bay to secure the win. . The Cubs and Mets will meet up again tonight as they continue their series from the friendly confines.
The St. Louis Cardinals battled through five scoreless innings before falling to the Nationals 3-2 in Washington. The Cards took a 2-1 lead in the seventh inning thanks to Dylan Carlson’s run-scoring triple and a sac fly from Austin Dean. The Nationals then rallied for two runs in the eighth to take the lead for good. Their series continues today.
The Chicago Bulls will look to extend their two-game winning streak tonight when they play the Cavaliers in Cleveland. The Bulls have won two in a row, including a victory over the Cavs last Saturday.
The Blackhawks are back at home tonight for the first of two matches at the United Center with the Nashville Predators. The Blackhawks are 21-20-and-5 on the year and are battling Dallas and Nashville for the last playoff spot in the Central.
