A two-story wooden building where there was a fire earlier this week in Ottawa used to be a place where fire extinguishers were serviced. The Ottawa Fire Department’s report doesn’t say what caused the fire on the second floor, which used to be an apartment. The owner said there hadn’t been electrical service in the building in the 500 block of E. Joliet St. in years, but Ameren Illinois found a live line and disconnected the meter. Damage estimates are $25,000 to the building and $5,000 to the things inside.
