The house where the late attorney Peter Ferracuti lived is gone. In 2018, the city of Ottawa annexed the land and there was a plan to develop a home for unwed mothers on the 56-acre site. That never got going. Mayor Dan Aussem says now there’s a plan for a forest preserve and a teaching center focusing on health, the environment, and the arts.

Aussem expects construction of the first two buildings this year. The site is off Columbus St. going up the hill.
