This week, the Ottawa Fire Department is sending a fire truck to a special shop that works on fire trucks for frame rail repairs. Not wanting to be down an engine, Fire Chief Andy Borkowski arranged for a rental. The City Council approved last week and it arrived a few days later.

Borkowski says the rental truck is made by Pierce, the same company that made the city’s other fire trucks. He says that means the fire fighters are already mostly familiar with it. The rental doesn’t have any words, city symbols, or other markings on it. But it’s red and shaped like a fire truck, so people should recognize it easily.

The rental truck the Ottawa Fire Dept. is using shows remnants of another department’s signage. Otherwise, it looks generic.
