The city of Oglesby cleaned up a leftover derecho problem it didn’t know it had until last week. City Commissioner Jason Curran says the August wind blast caused a sewer break.
Curran says the break didn’t stop the sewer from flowing, so no sewage backed up into homes. He’s glad that didn’t add to the misery Oglesby was already facing with trees down and other things damaged in town. The break was so far out of the way, it went unnoticed all this time. And repairing the pipe was simple enough, city workers needed less than four hours to do it.
