A Streator woman is agreeing to four years on probation and to keep cooperating if prosecutors need help in another case. Fifty-one year old Nancy Newell pleaded guilty today to burglary and retail theft. She admitted stealing things from Designs and Signs in Streator and hocking them at a Pontiac pawn shop last September. And she admitted stealing from the Ottawa Walmart store that month.
Newell and 29-year old Leroy Persinger of Streator were arrested in September after a ten-hour hunt in the cornfields northwest of Streator. Last week, Persinger got an eight-year prison sentence for burglary and possession of a vehicle stolen from Designs and Signs. Newell later agreed to testify against Persinger.
