The LaSalle County Health Department says it got 300 first doses of COVID-19 vaccine this week. That’s down by 1,000 from what the department has been getting. And it’s not sure how many doses will come in the weeks ahead.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is giving some priority now to people who need their second doses. That means there are fewer opportunities for people who’ve had no shots yet to get first doses. But pharmacies are starting to get them too, including Hy-Vee in Peru, CVS in Mendota, Kroger in Streator and on Ottawa’s north side, and Walgreens in Peru and Ottawa.
So far, nearly 17,000 vaccinations have been given to LaSalle County residents and 3,614 residents have gotten both doses.
