There are Democrats and Republicans who want Pres. Biden to change his mind about firing U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois John Lausch.
Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth want Lausch to stay on the job to conclude investigations already underway. Cong. Adam Kinzinger says Lausch is pursuing a major public corruption investigation against former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan and others. Illinois Republican Party Chairman Don Tracy says Lausch is clearing out criminals in elected office and dismantling the Democratic machine one crony at a time.
It’s not unusual for a new President to name new people to U.S. Attorney jobs, especially when the predecessors were appointed by a President of a different political party, as was Lausch.
