Morris Republican St. Rep. David Welter is urging Gov. Pritzker to veto the police reform bill sent to him. Welter says eliminating cash bail is the big hangup for him.
Welter wants the General Assembly to discuss the reform and come up with criminal justice reform that meets the concerns of victims and survivors. Proponents of getting rid of cash bail say the system as it is now keeps some people behind bars just because they can’t pay.
