The defense for 24-year old Kenneth Herbst of LaSalle is working on scheduling an expert witness who won’t be available until May or later. In the meantime, there’ll be an evidence hearing in the murder case. That will be in late February. Herbst is charged with smothering his eight-week old son to death nearly two years ago. Herbst is in the LaSalle County jail.
