A Spring Valley man got a five year prison sentence last week on charges of firing a gun at a house and a car. The incident happened in Peru in July.
A jury found 34-year old Semaj S. Jones guilty of aggravated discharge of a firearm in October. He asked for a new trial, but Judge H. Chris Ryan didn’t agree last week that Jones had sufficient reason for one.
A man was hurt because of the shooting, but not because he was shot. Police say the man fled the scene and fell down a ravine.
There were people in the house in the 2100 block of Market St. and in the car. They were not hurt.
