On Tuesday afternoon, firefighters continued to monitor a fire that completely engulfed the 70,000-square-foot Moore Tires shop located at 2411 E. Rock Falls Road/U.S. Route 30. Rock Falls Fire Chief Ken Wolf, in a news release issued around 2:15 p.m. yesterday, stated that the fire is believed to have originated in the first-floor shop area. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by multiple authorities, including the State Fire Marshal, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Sterling and Rock Falls fire departments, and the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Office. The release noted that approximately 90% of the building was affected, with no reported injuries.
