The world dimmed on Sunday, January 14, 2024, as we said farewell to Jacob Faltin-Medina of Ottawa, who passed away at the age of 29 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled to take place from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, where friends and family will gather to honor and remember Jacob’s beautiful journey.
Jacob was born on May 10, 1994, in Oak Lawn, IL to Ronald and Sherri (Ventimiglia) Faltin and grew up in Plainfield. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Jacob dedicated his professional life to making a positive impact as a school psychologist for L.E.A.S.E. His students affectionately knew him as Mr. Jacob, a beloved figure who left an indelible mark on their lives.
On August 19, 2021, Jacob exchanged vows with the love of his life, Mario Saldana, in a ceremony held in Ottawa. Their union was a testament to love, commitment, and shared dreams. Together, they reveled in life’s simple pleasures—spending time with friends, immersing themselves in the lively atmosphere of festivals and concerts, expressing joy through song and dance, and exploring the wonders of the world through travel.
Jacob leaves behind his devoted husband, Mario; his parents, Ronald and Sherri; and a sister, Mary “Katie” (Faltin) Lesko. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, and donations may be directed to Mario Sandro Saldana to support him during this challenging time.
May Jacob’s spirit resonate in our hearts, and may the memories of his vibrant life bring solace to those who were privileged to know him.
