I-PASS Transponders To Be Replaced With Stickers

By WCMY News Jan 10, 2024 | 7:16 AM

The Illinois Tollway is set to shift from the traditional hard-plastic I-PASS transponders to a more convenient option: window stickers.

As per the Tollway’s announcement, these stickers boast a smaller size and a lower cost compared to the longstanding transponder boxes. Notably, there is no requirement for a deposit when opting for the stickers.

Employing radio frequency identification technology, the stickers facilitate seamless communication with toll booths without the need for batteries.

Starting from the end of January, these stickers will be readily available at customer service centers, including the Belvidere Oasis located at 2510 Pearl Street. Subsequently, they will be accessible at Jewel-Osco stores and through the I-PASS website https://getipass.com/.

Importantly, the Illinois Tollway assures drivers that they can continue using their existing I-PASS transponders until they reach their expiration date.
