Some local libraries and schools are sharing in more than $750,000 in state grants for buying books. The LaSalle and Marseilles public libraries are getting $4,900 each. Oglesby’s public library is getting $3,775. Smaller awards are going to the libraries in Streator, Spring Valley, and DePue.

Lasalle Elementary and Streator Woodland schools are also getting $4,900 each. Peru Elementary, Hall High School in Spring Valley, and Spring Valley Community Unit School District are also getting grants.

The Secretary of State’s Office announced the grants last week.
