The recently installed downtown Ottawa wireless internet could go city-wide. The city hired a company to put it in to transmit Christmas music. Mayor Dan Aussem says the company thinks it’s feasible to build a city-wide commercial service.
Aussem says there would be a franchise agreement along the lines of what the city has with Mediacom for cable access. The city wouldn’t run or own the internet service as was proposed a few years ago.
