Sen. Dick Durbin said Thursday, it would be impressive if a bill he and nine other Senators came up with over the last three-and-a-half weeks comes up for a vote quickly. He says five Democrats and five Republicans hammered out a detailed bill and presented it Tuesday. The Illinois Democrat explained on the Senate floor today, it provides $300 per week in extra unemployment benefits, funding for SNAP benefits, money for hospitals, and child care expenses.
The bill doesn’t include any relief money for state and local governments. That’s one of the things Durbin finds disappointing about the bill, but he says it brings forward what the group of ten agreed on.
