The Ottawa High School teacher who returned to work in October after a five-year battle against the school board will leave the building as a retiree this week. The school board approved Tim Burgess’ retirement this week. That’ll take effect when he leaves work Friday.

Burgess returned to the building as a teacher this school year after the district lost a long court fight over firing him. He’d been accused of speaking gruffly with at least one other teacher in a teachers’ union meeting. Burgess currently has a lawsuit against the district, accusing some school board members and administrators of a conspiracy against him.
