(Independence, MO) — The FBI is offering a ten-thousand-dollar reward for two ceremonial swords stolen from the Harry Truman Museum nearly 40 years ago. A notice posted by the federal department Friday says the jewel-encrusted swords and two daggers were given to President Truman by a Saudi Arabian crown prince and the Shah of Iran. The weapons were in a display case in the lobby and were stolen in just a few minutes. In 1978, they were valued at up to a million dollars. Anyone with information about the items is asked to call the FBI’s Kansas City Field Office.
