The LaSalle County Board learned more about the Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy program, or C-PACE. Board Chairman Don Jensen says there’s nothing about it to vote on yet. He wanted new board members to find out about it.
The program arranges for commercial building owners to borrow money for improvements that make their buildings more energy efficient. Those could include solar panels and HVAC systems. They pay it back over many years at property tax time with assessments added onto their bills.
The Finance Committee learned about the program in October.
