Mayor Scott Harl has an idea to get people to shop in Peru. It’s called Shop Peru and Win. If you spend at least $100 in the city, and put the receipts with your name and address in an envelope, you can enter a weekly drawing at City Hall.
The first one will be on New Year’s Eve with three winners getting $500 debit cards. Weekly $250 winners will be chosen after that. Harl is asking the City Council to approve $28,000 in funds for it.
Although the City Council hasn’t approved it yet, Harl says people can drop off their entries already.
