The Illinois Department of Employment Security reported an increase in statewide unemployment in November. The unemployment rate for the month rose to 4.7 percent, up from 4.6 percent in October and matching the rate from November of the previous year. In comparison, the national unemployment rate for November this year was lower at 3.7 percent. Notable job gains were observed in manufacturing, educational and health services, and other services, while professional and business services and information sectors experienced job losses. Approximately 306,200 individuals in Illinois were actively seeking employment without success during this period.
