A bill to let mothers breastfeed their babies in lactation rooms at small airports has been signed into law. Sen. Tammy Duckworth introduced such a bill in 2015 and has been working to get it passed ever since. She says you wouldn’t want to eat your meal in a bathroom stall, yet babies traveling with their mothers have been expected to at airports.

A bill with a lactation room requirement for medium and large airports became law two years ago with a fall 2021 deadline. The Friendly Airports for Mothers Improvement Act requires small airports to have them too. They’ll have until the fall of 2023 to comply.
