While the Illinois High School Association wants to go ahead with basketball season, it’s still up to schools to do it or not. Ottawa High School is not, at least for now. In a letter from Principal Patrick Leonard and Athletic Director Mike Cooper, OHS says the IHSA and the Illinois Department of Public Health must be in agreement before the school will have basketball.
But boys and girls bowling, boys swimming, cheerleading, and dance will begin November 16th. That season will end February 13th. Those are considered sports at lower risk of spreading COVID-19.
Wrestling is to go from April 19 to June 26.
