>>Governor Pritzker Calls Homelessness in Illinois Unacceptable

(Springfield, IL) — Governor J.B. Pritzker says it’s unacceptable that tens of thousands of Illinois residents go to sleep each night in shelters or in vacant buildings. He made the comment Wednesday at the Supportive Housing Providers Association. Illinois has given the organization 6-and-a-half million dollars toward the group’s mission of providing affordable and stable housing to the homeless. The association works with 100 groups around Illinois to tackle homelessness.

>>Unemployment Down Across South Central IL

(Salem, IL) — Latest data is showing that unemployment across south-central Illinois has fallen. The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports 5-point-1 percent of residents of Marion County are out of a job — compared with 5-and-a-half percent in September. It’s also up six-tenths of a percent over a year ago last month. Washington County has the lowest amount of unemployment — at 2-point-7 percent.

(Aurora, IL) — A police officer in Aurora is being recognized for his work battling drug trafficking. Special Agent Matthew Huber has been given two commendations from a state task force commanders association. Huber has been recognized for his work in two cases where he seized mushrooms, cocaine, and firearms.

(Springfield, IL) — The 2024 election season begins Monday. Candidates who want to make the spring primary ballot can begin turning in their paperwork on Monday. There could be a large crowd at the state’s election office in Springfield as candidates line up to try and be first on the ballot. The paperwork for the spring ballot is due to the state by the following Monday.
