The Ottawa City Council didn’t mention much about the Peltier Factory cleanup at their normal council meeting tonight. When asked about it after the meeting ended, Mayor Hasty brushed it aside saying the city would tear down a portion of the Peltier site. This would mean the city is automatically going to treat and not remove the contaminated soil under Peltier at 518 DeLeon Street and request the second of three federal grants options, the 1 point 7 million dollar one.
The city is still not sure if this second plan calls for adding clean soil after capping with cement. More discussion is expected but it’s not known if public input is allowed.
