The Cubs and White Sox are set for the start of the playoffs beginning with The  Sox facing the A’s in Oakland beginning tomorrow on the American League side. The Cubs clinched the National League Central title and will host the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field in the Wild Card Series starting on Wednesday.

 

St. Louis Cardinals clinched a postseason berth by beating the Brewers 5-2 at Busch Stadium.  The Cards head to San Diego to face the Padres in their Wild Card Series starting on Wednesday

 

The Chicago Bears scored 20-unanswered points in the fourth quarter in a 30-26 come from behind victory over the Falcons in Atlanta.  Nick Foles relieved Mitch Trubisky at quarterback in the second half to throw for 188 yards, three touchdowns. Chicago improved to 3-and-0.

Elsewhere in the NFC NORTH, The Packers topped the Saints 37-30.  Lions defeated the Cardinals 26-23 and The Vikings lost to the Titans 31-30

 

The Chiefs and Ravens will meet in Baltimore on Monday Night Football.

 

The NBA finals are set to start Wednesday. The Miami Heat will take on  the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Bubble.

 

Kurt Busch won the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to get into the third round of the NASCAR Cup playoffs.

 

The Fire defeated Atlanta United 2-0 at Soldier Field in the MLS.

At the Seneca Cross-country Invite.

  • In the boys event, Marquette’s Lucas Hoffman finished first with a time of 17:05.
  • Seneca’s Billy Glasscock took second with a run time of 17:26.

 

  • The Girls division, The Seneca lady Irish,  Amber Vroman had a winning time of 20:48  and Ashley Alsvig with a second place run time of 21:10
  • Ottawa’s  Grace Carroll ran a time of 21:24 for third.

 

At the Ottawa High School JV Girls Tennis Invite 

  • Geneseo finished first with a team score of 26, The Lady Pirates came in second with a score of 25.
  • Rylee O’Fallon & Isabel Heimsoth were champions in doubles
  • Jenna Smithmeyer finished second in single matches.

 

 

In Golf

 

Seneca’s Austin Marshall and A.J. Stiegler claimed the two-player scramble’s title  At the Dwight Invitational

 

Marquette Crusader defeated Flanagan at Pine Hills 184-233

  • Kaitlyn Magoonaugh led all golfers with a score of 43.

 

The Lady Pirates finished with a 216 to place third at the triangular meet at Geneseo Country Club.

  • Zoe Harris & Abbi Klause led Ottawa each with a score of 52
  • Macomb won with a team score of 182 followed by Geneseo with a 183
