The death of a man in his 50s brings the total number of fatal coronavirus cases in LaSalle County to 57. The LaSalle County Health Department reported 18 new cases Saturday for a total of 1,704 so far. That makes a local fatality rate of 3.1% of known cases.
Recoveries held at 1,132. It’s at just under the two-thirds mark compared to all cases.
The state reported 2,441 new cases for 286,326 altogether. Twenty-five more deaths were noted in the Illinois Department of Public Health’s report for 8,588 so far.
