St. Rep. Tom Demmer of Dixon says the graduated income tax amendment shouldn’t be taken as a referendum on raising taxes on everyone. He believes the people want state government to cut spending.

Speaking through the Illinois House Republicans press office, Demmer says the administration should get down to business and cut spending. He’s been saying that for years.

Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton says the state needs around $4 billion more in revenue per year. If it can’t get it through higher income taxes on rich people, Stratton says the state will get it through higher income taxes on everyone.
