The Indians edged the White Sox 5-4 in Cleveland.  The playoff-bound Sox play the final three-games series against the Cubs on the southside. Dylan Cease will take the mound against the northside’s Yu Darvish. 

 

The Pirates crushed the Cubs 7-0 in Pittsburgh. The Cubs’ magic number to clinch the NL Central title over the Cardinals remains three.

 

Yadier Molina singled twice to reach two-thousand hits for his career in the Cardinals’ 4-2 win over the Brewers at Busch Stadium. The Cards and Milwaukee play a doubleheader today.

 

The 2-0 Chicago Bears visit the 0-2 Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. 

 

The Pac-12 & Mountain West conferences are reversing course and will play college football this fall.

 

The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs continue Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Lady Pirates were winners in tennis beating Mendota 5-0

  • Sara Meyer & Mary Riva won in singles.
  • Ella Marvel & Grace Satterfield,  Kyleigh Olszewski & Madison Lineback and Tessa Thiry & Avery Landers all winners in doubles.

 

Ottawa JV Girls also defeated Mendota 5-0 

  • Jenna Smithmeyer & Emma Cushing each had victories in Singles
  • In Doubles the teams of Rylee O’Fallon & Isabel Heimsoth,  Cora Sisk & Emma Walker and  Layne Krug & Abi Morris  were all winners.

 

The Lady Bulldogs swept  Peoria High School in tennis 5-0 at Streator HS.

 

In Golf

Marquette defeated Midland and Bureau Valley at Timber Creek Golf Course.

The Crusaders final score was 182 with Carsen Zellers leading all golfers with a 44.

 

The Ottawa Pirates earned a victory in Mendota by beating the Trojans 163-166

  • Drake Kufman & Caden Ericzon each scored 40 to lead the Pirates

 

Junior Varsity also won in Mendota 182-187 

  • Tyce Love outscored all golfers with a 43.

 

The Lady Pirates defeated Roanoke-Benson 209-215

  • Ottawa’s Zoe Harris led all golfers with a score of 48.

 

The Seneca Fighting Irish won against Reed-Custer 172- 201

Seneca’s leading golfer was Holden Flynn  with a score of 41 

 

The Lady Irish finished 2nd with a 254 at Cedardell Golf Course

  • Plano Lady Reapers won with a score of 218.
  • Laura Yegge scored a 58 to lead Seneca
