Yesterday The Reds went on to beat the White Sox 7-3 in Cincinnati.  Dylan Cease suffered the loss after giving up three runs in three innings.  The Sox has dropped two of three in the series but remain in first place in the AL Central. .

The Twins blanked the Cubs 4-0 at Wrigley Field.  Yu Darvish struck out nine but gave up four on nine hits over six innings for the loss.   The northsiders dropped two of three in their series but still lead the NL Central by three-and-a-half games over the Cardinals with seven games remaining in the season.

Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer to push the Cardinals past the Pirates 2-1 in Pittsburgh. The Cards have won four-straight and will visit the Royals tonight.

 

Mitch Trubisky threw for 190 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Bears held off the Giants 17-13 in their home opener and improved to 2-and-0.  The Bears visit the Falcons next Sunday.

Elsewhere in the NFC North, the Packers over the Lions 42-21 and The Vikings lost to the Colts 28-11.

Tonight the New Orleans Saints take on the Raiders in Las Vegas on Monday Night Football.

 

The Chicago Fire fell 4-1 to Orlando City in the MLS.

 

At The U.S Open, Bryson DeChambeau celebrated his first major title on the PGA Tour.

Ottawa, Marquette and  Seneca competed in cross country at  Catlin Park.

  • The Seneca Fighting Irish placed first in the boys and girls divisions.
  • The Crusaders Lucas Hoffman led all boys with a time of 16:15
  • Lady Pirate Grace Carroll finished second for the girls with a time 20:11

 

The Lady Pirates won the Moline Junior Varsity tennis tournament.

  • In Singles, Jenna Smithmeyer & Emma Cushing  won in singles.
  • Rylee O’Fallon & Isabel Heimsoth and the team of Cora Sisk & Emma Walker  were winners in doubles

 

In Golf, The Marquette Crusaders defeated Henry 177-213 at Pine Hills.

  • Carsen Zellers, Grant Waldron and Kaitlin McGoonaugh led all golfers each with a score of 44

 

At Timber Ridge Golf Club, the Fighting Irish beat Midland 183-208

  • Noah Cade scored a 44 in the victory.
