There will be no Burgoo Festival this year. The LaSalle County Historical Society announced Friday, it has cancelled the 51st annual event. It’s the latest event in this area to be affected by the pandemic.
To make up for some of the revenue losses, the Canal Market will be extended to the weekend when Burgoo would have happened. That’s the weekend of October 10th. Society board president Mary Holland says the board is looking forward to Burgoo 2021 with business as usual.
Burgoo, named after the stew served there, is the historical society’s biggest fundraiser and a huge tourist attraction for Utica.
