LaSalle County is at warning level for COVID-19 again. It was put on the warning list late last month and Gov. Pritzker warned that restrictions could return if the number of coronavirus cases didn’t turn around. The Illinois Department of Public Health quickly removed the county with no big announcement, but then the number of cases soared.
The LaSalle County Health Department says the county has had more new coronavirus cases so far in August than it did in June and July combined. The department says contact tracing shows small clusters of cases among families and household contacts, and that social gatherings are contributing to the increase.
Several neighboring counties are also on the list. They are Bureau, Grundy, Kane, and Will.
