St. Sen. Sue Rezin says she’s disappointed in the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules decision to uphold emergency rules to punish businesses for not enforcing mask rules.
The Morris Republican says the pandemic has had a crippling effect on small businesses across the state. She says the legislature should do everything it can to support recovery. But Rezin says instead, Gov. Pritzker is creating new burdens to that recovery.
The vote earlier this week was along party lines. The new rules make businesses responsible for making sure customers wear masks inside and allow for fines of up to $2,500 if they don’t. The rules also create warning steps before fines are issued.
