Almost half of Illinois school bus drivers surveyed on one day last year reported drivers who ignored the stop arm and passed their bus while it was loading or unloading. LaSalle, Marshall, and Putnam counties Regional Schools Superintendent Chris Dvorak says people need to respect the stop sign and lights on the bus. Careless or impatient drivers can run into children.
Local bus drivers do report license plate numbers of people who violate the law. And police follow up and write tickets.
