Illinois Election Authorities and State Board of Elections Host Election Integrity/Transparency Conference

With the 2024 Primary and General Election looming, Illinois Election authorities and the State Board of Elections will hold a joint press conference on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at the LaSalle County Board Chambers, 707 E. Etna Rd., Ottawa. Some leaders will attend two other meetings: the Tazewell County Justice Center at 9:00 a.m. and the McLean County Clerk’s Office at noon.

LaSalle County Clerk Jennifer Ebner will be among 26 representatives participating throughout the day in counties that range from Champaign, Peoria, and Putnam to Marshall, Rock Island, and Winnebago. Board of Election officials will include Bloomington Election Commission Executive Director Luke Stremlau, Peoria County Election Commission Executive Director Elizabeth Gannon, and Illinois State Board of Elections Public Information Officer Matt Dietrich.

“Local Election Leaders will discuss the ever-increasing election misinformation and inquiries into their election processes and procedures since the 2016 Presidential Election,” Tazewell County Clerk John C. Ackerman wrote in a media advisory. “They will highlight how local election management secures the integrity of elections in Illinois while our collaboration toward sharing best practices and policies. The leaders will also stress their invitation for the public to visit their offices to discuss any questions and concerns. Transparency about our processes and procedures is a priority of each office and will improve public confidence in elections.”
