The United Way of Eastern LaSalle County’s Labor of Love Home Repair will look different this year because of pandemic restrictions. Even so, United Way Executive Director Shelli Ocepek says taking care of neighbors is even more important now because of the pandemic.
There will be changes in how the big work day on October 3 happens.
Ocepek is also rethinking how breakfast and lunch will be served. A drive through system might be used.
Indoor cosmetic projects won’t be done this year. Ocepek says only essential health and safety projects will be done. Ocepek is anticipating having to use more contract labor this year because of restrictions on volunteer groups and is hoping to raise more money for the program.
Labor of Love applications are now being taken over the phone at 815-434-4003.
