Ottawa City Hall is buying upgrades for the sewer system controls for $329,650. City Engineer Tom Duttlinger says the current sensor and remote control system is outdated. The upgrade will replace a remote control system that uses a cell phone connection with one connected by fiber-optic. He says the same thing was done in the water system last year.

Being able to read sensors and control mechanisms remotely saves time and money, because public works employees don’t have to be sent to each site for every adjustment.
