Ottawa Elementary Board starts committee to discuss future solar project

The Ottawa Elementary School District is taking another step toward starting a Community Solar Project. Board Members Mark Fisher and Mary Ganiere volunteered to be on a two-person committee that will talk with Trajectory Energy Partners, the group that could install solar panels on the district’s land. Supt. Michelle Lee says this doesn’t mean the project will start, but it will look at the leasing agreement between the district and the energy group. The school board’s attorney and the company’s attorney would then talk over the contract. Community Solar allows businesses and other groups to save money on electricity by connecting to a solar array. The district wants to start a project to save money and allow residents in the area to connect to the array in the future.
