The Peru City Council approved spending about $37,000 for continued improvements around the new Lighted Way Children’s Development Center that’s close to the border of the city. City Engineer Eric Carls says the improvements will expand on parking lot for the Baker Lake area and allow space for buses for Lighted Way to get around.

The spaces will help with parking around Baker Lake because people used to park on grass. The improvement project also benefits the future playground for students at the school. The money for the new playground equipment will come from a $1 million donation from the Doug and Rosie Schweickert Charitable Trust.
