Gun bans, ethics reform, and other issues were discussed with constituents during a telephone town hall hosted by Republican St. Rep. Brad Fritts and St. Rep. Ryan Spain. Fritts explained his disappointment with the Illinois Supreme Court allowing cash bail during a town hall he hosted over the phone. He says unfortunately is now going to put victims and law enforcement at risk. He also talked about how the cashless bail provision in the SAFE-T Act is going to cost counties. He says a lot of counties he represents will spend more to run court.

One woman asked if marijuana revenue the state gets is going to help clean up state parks. Fritts says he couldn’t ask about it because he wasn’t able to talk with anyone about the state’s 2024 budget. He says the parks do need some attention like mowing the grass and keeping up with trails. He says the state is having hiring problems.

This was the first tele-town hall Fritts has hosted since he was elected. He represents the 74th district that covers LaSalle County from north of LaSalle toward Lee County and the village of Harding and points west.
