The city of Streator could be moving forward with installing solar panels at the city’s sewer plant. City Engineer Jeremy Palm and City Manager David Plyman introduced the project idea last fall. Palm says it could save the city over $660,000 on electricity costs and over $1.5 million over twenty-five years if they decide to enter into a contract with Clean Design Energy Group in Metamora. Palm says there is some risks because the agreement has a fixed rate.

The city would have to pay about $2.1 million for the entire program over the 25-year period. The council could vote on the agreement at Wednesday’s meeting.
