Peru Police investigating bicycle versus car accidents

Two bicyclists were taken to different hospitals after they were hit by vehicles in Peru Friday afternoon. Peru Police Chief Sarah Raymond says the first accident happened at 1st and Pike Streets when a 26-year old man riding an electric bike pulled into the intersection without waiting. The man was hit by a 36-year old woman. He was taken to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Ottawa. The second accident happened at IL 251 and May Rd. Police say a 51-year old man riding a gas-powered bike was hit by a 22-year old woman because he apparently turned in front of the woman’s car. After he was hit, he was taken by helicopter to St. Francis Hospital in Peoria. Both incidents are still by investigated by Peru Police.
