The number of corona virus cases at one nursing home in the area has ballooned. Aperion Care in Marseilles now reports 31 cases among residents and two among staff. The parent company reported just one case affecting a resident earlier this week.
The company says it is following CDC recommendations at all its homes, including having staff wear protective gowns and gloves. It is also limiting visits.
Last week, one case was reported affecting a resident at the veterans home in LaSalle. Staff and other residents there tested negative for the virus.
Health experts say the mere presence of the disease at any nursing home does not say anything about the quality of care at the home.
