One of the people arrested in connection with a high-speed chase in Bureau and LaSalle counties Friday was jailed over the weekend in Bureau County. Thirty-one year old Derrick E. Mays is charged with aggravated fleeing, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, and improper lane use by passing on the shoulder. A judge set bond at $150,000 when Mays was in court over the weekend.
Mays was let out of prison on parole in January last year. He’d been serving time for attempted murder.
Eighteen year old Jamal D. Nelson of Madison, Wisconsin was also arrested in the case. He’s wanted in Wisconsin on charges of dealing cocaine and resisting police.
